Rainway’s Andrew Sampson has been awarded a Thiel Fellowship. This Fellowship is provided as an alternative to a college that targets aspiring young entrepreneurs. It is a very competitive opportunity, and less than 1% of applicants are awarded each year.
The Thiel Fellowship
The Thiel Fellowship was founded by Peter Thiel through the Thiel Foundation. He believes that there are young people in the world that would waste their time and talents if they pursued a traditional college education. His goal is to use the Thiel Fellowship to provide these young talents with the training and resources to do something more. Awardees are expected to drop out of school to pursue other work. Commonly Fellowship recipients pursue scientific research, creating a business startup, or working on a social movement. And the Thiel Fellowship makes sure that they’ll have the resources to pursue their projects.
“Fellows receive $100,000 and mentorship from the Thiel Foundation’s network of technology founders, investors, and scientists.” -Businesswire
In all, the Thiel Fellowship provides an excellent opportunity for those that are ready to jump right into business after finishing high school.
Andrew Sampson awarded Thiel Fellow
Rainway’s Andrew Sampson is the latest to be awarded a Thiel Fellowship. His Game Streaming passion led him to co-found Rainway. Rainway allows Gamers to stream Video Games from a computer to a variety of other devices.
Andrew joins an elite group of Fellowship recipients that includes Boyan Slat (The Ocean Cleanup), James Proud (Hello), Taylor Wilson (youngest person to produce nuclear fusion), and Austin Russell (founder of Luminar).
With $100,000 and the mentorship that Thiel provides, Andrew will have new resources to continue his work on Rainway.
Receiving a Thiel Fellowship is a prestigious form of recognition, and we at Flickstiq want to congratulate Andrew for the hard work that he is doing. This is a big deal, and an exciting opportunity for both Andrew and Rainway.
