Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i Controller for iOS
Mad Catz may not be around as a company anymore, but their products continue to be some of the best. This is especially true of the C.T.R.L.i Controller for iOS Devices.
The C.T.R.L.i Controller does a good job of mimicking an Xbox 360 Controller. It has the same layout, and it feels like a premium device. This controller has a glossy top-side and a textured bottom-side. The analog sticks are responsive and feel nice and tight (no play at all). It features great face buttons and triggers. The biggest downside of this controller isn’t one that is unique to this model. Apple’s MFi controller guidelines restrict manufacturers from including clickable analog sticks or a menu button. So these are missing on the C.T.R.L.i Controller. You may miss them in games that utilize them, but thankfully you can get away without them in most cases. The C.T.R.L.i is powered by two AA batteries that last for many hours of gaming. It’s compatible with both Remotr and Moonlight for Game Streaming on iOS.
iPega PG-9023 Android/Windows Controller
The iPega PG-9023 is a wonderful telescoping controller for Android and Windows. It is advertised as being compatible with iOS, but don’t be fooled! It features iCade Support for iOS, which is not the same as the modern MFi protocol. We would not recommend this controller for iOS users. It is a great controller for Android or Windows Gamers. It can fit anything from a phone to a 10″ Tablet. We tested a 5.7″ LG Stylo, a 7″ Verizon Tablet, and our trusty Microsoft Surface Pro 2. The PG-9023 feels good in your hands, and features a full Xbox-Style layout. It does not have analog triggers, so you don’t get the full fidelity that you experience with a standard Xbox Controller. The iPega can be used as either a wireless bluetooth controller, or as a wired controller through micro USB.
The wired mode is plug-&-play for both Android and Windows. Blueooth is very straight forward for Android. You just hold the Home + X buttons on the controller and then select it from the Android Bluetooth menu. For Windows, you also hold Home + X to put it into Pairing Mode. From there you can pair it from the Bluetooth Settings on the computer. After the controller is paired, you need to install and run x360ce on your Windows Computer to add full support for the PG-9023. Without installing this program, the controls for the iPega won’t work properly in games.
At the end of the day, the iPega PG-9023 is a controller that feels good and provides a lot of flexibility to Game Streamers.
Insignia NS-CAHBTOE01 Bluetooth Headphones
We can’t say enough about how much we like the Insignia NS-CAHBTOE01 Bluetooth Headphones. They only cost about $20, and reviewers frequently compare them to the sound quality of Beats and Bose. We would absolutely agree that they sound great. These Insignia Headphones are completely wireless (bluetooth), and they are compatible with just about anything. You can use them in Windows, Mac, ChromeOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. If you’re looking for a great sounding headset that is inexpensive, and that works with anything, these could become your go-to. They are rechargeable, have a Microphone, and can also be used with an auxiliary cable.
Microsoft Xbox One S Controller
The Xbox One S Controller almost doesn’t need an explanation. It’s one of the most widely-used gaming controllers for Windows. The Xbox Controller has gone through three generations. The first generation Controller is nice, but had a few issues that bothered Gamers. The D-Pad was loud and clicky, and the Shoulder Buttons were noisy. The Xbox One S Controller is the 3rd generation (latest) from Microsoft. They took what was already a great controller and refined it even more. The loud D-Pad and Shoulder Buttons have been fixed. There is more grip on the analog sticks, and the face buttons are larger. Most importantly, Microsoft added Bluetooth to the controller. This allows you to connect it wirelessly to most modern PC’s. In addition to working with Windows, the Xbox One S Controller also works for Mac and Samsung Android Phones. We didn’t have success getting it to work on a Chromebook (although we’ve read reports of it working on the newest models). The Xbox One S is our favorite controller for Game Streaming and Cloud Gaming (we use one in most of our YouTube videos).
Logitech F310 Controller
If you’re looking for a workhorse with the highest level of compatibility, look no further than the Logitech F310. This controller features a Playstation-esque layout with Xbox style buttons. If you’re a fan of the Playstation 3 controller, you’ll feel right at home with the F310. It has a Mode button that allows you to switch between Xinput and DirectInput modes. This can be important for certain games or systems. It’s the only controller in our list that allows you to freely switch between these modes. The F310 is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, and Android. It has become our go-to for playing games on our Chromebook. We also had success using it with a Nvidia Shield through an Adapter. The F310 is wired, so you don’t have to worry about batteries.
